Today, we are witnessing an engineered humanitarian disaster reaching another horrifying turning point.
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) just announced crippling reductions in food assistance, slashing emergency aid to 500,000 Palestinians in Gaza and 200,000 in the occupied West Bank. In Gaza, where over two-thirds of the population, around 1.4 million people are experiencing crisis-level food insecurity, aid rolls have been slashed from 1.6 million down to 1.1 million. Roughly 200,000 souls stand on the absolute brink of starvation.
Carl Skau, acting head of the WFP, issued a desperate plea for $450 million just to keep life saving food parcels and hot meals moving over the next six months. Yet the wealthiest nations on Earth, who readily supply billions in munitions, plead poverty when human beings need bread.
Meanwhile, on the ground, state and vigilante terror compound the misery. In the West Bank, violent settler attacks during the vital olive harvest have already eclipsed the total recorded for all of last year, burning family groves to ash and converting an ongoing occupation into a full-scale famine crisis where nearly one million now need food aid. In Gaza, life remains daily terror under ongoing strikes and military blockades choked with bureaucratic cruelty.
Food is not a luxury or a geopolitical bargaining chip, it is a fundamental human right. As history continually reminds us, where hunger is weaponized against the oppressed, collapse follows. We cannot remain silent while international apathy starves our brothers and sisters in Palestine. Silence in the face of manufactured famine is complicity.
Stand up, speak out, and demand accountability.
